It Was Bound to Happen

An article by David Brooks on November 23, 2007

I think we all saw this coming after my article Zapfino is the New Papyrus but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

We were in a store the other day, I won’t mention the name of the store because I don’t want to be that guy that brings seemingly bad press to a company that doesn’t deserve it. I just happened to be looking at the artistic decorations and found this gem.

Zapfino and Papyrus together at last

Design wise I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. The colors are nice (not in this photo but in real life.) But I do find it extremely entertaining that they used Zapfino and Papyrus in the same piece.

While I was looking around I found a bag that combined three of my other favorite fonts, I guess it’s time to consider retiring them too… Or at least using them a ton less.
